The daily newspaper "Hamodia," the mouthpiece of the central faction of Gur Hasidim in Agudat Israel, published this morning (Thursday) an aggressive editorial against the ultra-Orthodox voters "from the fringes of the camp" who voted for Bezalel Smotrich's "Religious Zionism" party.

The article stated, under the headline "To whom did you give the secret code?", that the newspaper warned against voting for Smotrich even before the elections, and that now these warnings have come true: "Smotrich and his friends themselves, convincing by their actions, how right those who warned were.

""Those who warned that there is no discussion about whether a Jew like Smotrich, for example, can be added to the minyan or even honored as a Torah scholar. But is he a man who can, is suitable, or even willing, to represent ultra-Orthodox Jews, or more precisely, their values?" they wondered.

The article also states: "It was clarified that the Haredi representatives are completely subordinate, despite the Council of Torah Scholars, to the Shulchan Aruch, and to the values that Agudat Yisrael was established and works to implement. They and only they, the workers, have acted and with God's help will act, to implement the instructions of the Haredi Scholars on issues critical to the lives of Haredi Jews in the Land of Israel, and they will not omit anything from whatever they are told.".

According to the editorial, "Already in the first test, 'religious Zionism' explains with its actions how right the warners were. How much it is first 'Zionism', and in the extreme dimension of the concept, and only after that, if at all, 'religious'.".
