The panel of nine Supreme Court justices, headed by President Esther Hayut, ruled today (Monday) that even those who have undergone Reform and Conservative 'conversion' will be recognized as Jews and will be able to benefit from the Law of Return and receive Israeli citizenship. In Israel, speeding is the norm: Why do we drive fast? The judges implicitly criticized the government for not regulating the legislation on the subject of conversion for many years. The ruling followed 11 petitions, most of which were filed in 2005. Judge Dafna Barak Erez wrote: "We have refrained from deciding on this issue for nearly five more years – out of a respectful attitude toward the respondent's position, in order to allow for the advancement of orderly legislation on the issue. However, we cannot wait until Bush, when people's rights are at stake and legislation on the issue is not in sight." The ruling came after more than 15 years of petitions against the conversion system in Israel. "The petitions in the title have been pending for many years," the decision said. "Most of them were filed 15 years ago, and due to the importance and sensitivity of the issue, all parties concerned have been given the opportunity to formulate a comprehensive solution time and again... Unfortunately, such a solution has not been found to date." The decision further states that last August, the state's request to postpone the ruling was granted "for who knows how many times and within the law" - "but this deadline has also passed, without any progress on the issue." Attorney Yitzhak Bem specializes in administrative, constitutional and criminal law: "On the surface, this is another wedge that the Reform organizations, with the active assistance of the Supreme Court, are trying to drive into Jewish identity. It is very nice that there are multiple streams and multiple perceptions that all insist on calling themselves Judaism, but the situation in which those who are declared Jews by the Supreme Court are not Jews in the eyes of the majority of Jewish society in Israel, deepens the rifts in the nation instead of healing them.". Food stamps: When will they be distributed? Who is eligible for assistance? How much money do you receive? Enter: Registration for daycare for the 2012 school year is moving online The organization 'In the Picture' responded: "Just this week, the court ruled that disabled people will not be included in the discussion on making the Cave of the Patriarchs accessible because they have nothing to do with the matter - but the same legal system ruled for known Reform conversions. "This is a system that is cruel to the merciful and shows mercy to terrorists on a regular basis. All citizens of Israel know that justice never comes out of the Israeli legal system. "We will continue to work to have the Israeli Knesset empty the powers of this perverted body that harms every good plot of land, destroys it, and never brings justice to the citizens of Israel, but only to all the oppressors of Israel, terrorists, and infiltrators.".
