Blackmail? Lapid threatened one of the Chabad leaders - he panicked and explained

העיתונאי נחום ברנע מדווח בטורו בעיתון 'ידיעות אחרונות' על שיחת טלפון שהתקיימה השבוע בין יו"ר יש עתיד יאיר לפיד לאחד מראשי חב"ד. לדבריו, השילוב בין דת בגרסה חרד"לית לימין לאומני מתאים לאנשי חב"ד. ב־1996 הם מימנו את קמפיין "נתניהו טוב ליהודים". המעבר ל"בן גביר טוב ליהודים" הוא הצעד הבא, טוען ברנע. יאיר לפיד טילפן השבוע, מספר נחום ברנע, אל אחד מראשי חב"ד. "אם תתמכו במפלגה של סמוטריץ' ובן גביר, אני ארדוף אתכם", אמר. "נגמר הסיפור על חנוכיות בכל צומת בחנוכה ובתי חב"ד בכל העולם. נגמר הסיפור שלכם על אהבת ישראל". ח"כ בצלאל סמוטריץ הגיב: "כל ההבדל בין חב"ד ללפיד באיום אחד. תנועת חב"ד מקפידה לא להזדהות פוליטית, אוהבת ומסייעת לכל יהודי באשר הוא ללא שום תנאי או שיוך פוליטי. כל כך הפוך מיאיר לפיד. "אני בטוח שבחב"ד ימשיכו לאהוב את לפיד, לקרב ולארח אותו בשמחה גם אחרי האיום הזה. כי כאלה הם החב"דניקים כבר יותר מ-200 שנה". לאחר שהבין כי האיום על חב"ד האהודה פועל דווקא נגדו, פרסם לפיד בצהרים הבהרה בחשבון הטוויטר שלו: "אני רוצה להבהיר: איני רודף ולא ארדוף אף אחד, בוודאי לא את חברי הטובים מתנועת חב״ד. תנועה רבת זכויות שרק אהבת ישראל ואהבת הארץ לנגד עיניהם. יחד עם זאת אני מביע דאגה עמוקה מכך שאיתמר בן גביר וחסידי הרוצח ברוך גולדשטיין יכנסו לכנסת". לפיד הוסיף: "אני אמשיך להילחם בכל דרך כדי שאף גורם לא יתן יד לגזענות, להסתה, ולפילוג נוסף בעם ולא יתמכו בכהניסטים המאיימים על שלמות עם ישראל".
