Four Beit Shemesh residents called a lifeguard at the pool a "Hamasnik" - and were arrested

Four people were arrested by the Eilat Regional Police after they attacked a lifeguard at a hotel pool and shouted racist slogans at him.  The incident involving four residents of Beit Shemesh, all in their 30s, began yesterday afternoon. The four were smoking hookah and drinking alcohol by the pool at a hotel in Eilat. כשהמציל פנה אליהם, והעיר להם על כך, החלו הצעירים לתקוף אותו, לקרוא לעברו קריאות גנאי גזעניות, ולהפר את הסדר תוך שהם שופכים את האלכוהול אל תוך הבריכה וחובטים במציל באמצעות פח פלסטיק שמצאו בסמוך. כוח משטרתי אשר הגיע למקום נאלץ לעצור את המתפרעים, אשר לא חדלו אף בנוכחות אנשי החוק לקרוא לעבר המציל קריאות כגון ״מחבל״, "חמאסניק" ועוד. שוטרי משטרת אילת עצרו את הארבעה, והביאו אותם לחקירה. בסיום החקירה נכלאו הארבעה, ואמש שוחררו בתנאים מגבילים. בכוונת המשטרה להגיש כנגדם בהמשך כתב אישום. "This is a very serious case of disorderly conduct and racist chants towards a hotel employee whose job is to save lives. We will take a tough hand against disorderly conduct and statements of this kind," the police said.
