The first shipment of Moderna vaccines is expected to land in Israel tomorrow (Thursday). According to a report in Israel Hayom, the quantity that will arrive in the first phase is a small amount of over 100,000 vaccines. The first shipment is small in scope, in part because it is intended to practice the supply chain and refrigeration. The vaccines will be stored at SALA, where Pfizer's vaccines are also stored. Moderna vaccines are stored at a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius, not at a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius like Pfizer's. In addition, they are also less sensitive to shaking and can be used for up to 30 days after removal from deep refrigeration, while Pfizer vaccines can only be used for up to five days. The Ministry of Health denied the reports that the vaccine had arrived, but this morning, Corona Commissioner Prof. Nachman Ash was interviewed on Galei Tzahal, and said that Moderna's vaccines could be used to vaccinate patients confined to their homes who had no solution until now. In parallel with the surge in morbidity and the entry into a tight lockdown, the vaccination campaign in Israel continues at an impressive pace: so far, about 1.5 million Israelis have been vaccinated with the first dose. However, there is concern that the pace will slow down as the health insurance funds have already announced that they will not administer the first dose to additional patients for the time being, but will preserve the existing quantities for those who need the second dose.
