The Toldot Avraham Yitzhak Hasidic community celebrated the wedding of the Rebbe's grandson last night (Tuesday) in the city of Beitar Ilit, contrary to all Health Ministry guidelines. Haredi neighbors living near the hall called the police, and police officers who were called to the scene tried to stop the wedding. For many minutes, the police had difficulty entering the scene. Dozens of police officers, Yasm and Border Police forces were sent to the hall, and only after discussions with Hasidic activists did the police enter and begin to disperse the event. According to a report on Channel 7, eyewitnesses who were present at the scene say that at the same time as the event was being cleared, several police officers approached the Rebbe, received a glass of wine from him, and received a blessing from him. A police spokeswoman said: "Following a report received last night by the police about a wedding taking place in a synagogue hall in the city, police forces were called to the scene. "When the forces arrived at the scene, the entrance doors to the event were locked and the celebrants refused to open them. Only after discussion and negotiations with the event organizers were the doors opened and hundreds of participants were observed there, not wearing masks and in violation of regulations.".
The police added: "While the police forces were busy dispersing the participants, dozens of participants began to gather outside the event site, disrupting order, confronting the police, throwing stones at them and causing damage to police vehicles. "Additional forces were called to the scene and worked to fully disperse the participants and locate the wedding organizers. After the dispersal, the event organizers, the venue owner and others were summoned for questioning, and the investigation is ongoing." Yisrael Beytenu Party Chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, responded on his Facebook account: "Absolute madness. The ultra-Orthodox activists are so drunk on power that yesterday they decided to hire the Israel Police officers. "Only a government without Netanyahu, Litzman and Deri will be able to rescue Israel from the Corona crisis. A strong Yisrael Beytenu will make sure that happens.".
