In the Haredi community, marriage is celebrated at the age of 18-22, but among secular people, it is almost ten years earlier than the original target: The Central Bureau of Statistics published today (Sunday) on the occasion of Tu B'Av, that the average age of secular men who choose to get married is 28 years old, while brides get married at a younger age, and their age is approximately 26 years old.

This is a downward trend in recent decades, as in 1970 boys were married at the age of 25, while girls were married at the age of 21 and seven months.

Where is the largest percentage of singles in Israel, as of 2012?

Not surprisingly, Tel Aviv enjoys this dubious honor, with no less than 83 percent of men aged 25-29 living in the city still single, as are 70 percent of the city's women.

The next city in line is Haifa, where 72 percent of men in this age group are single, and 54 percent of women. Almost identical figures also appear in the city of Rishon LeZion.

Compared to central cities, Jerusalem has a surprisingly low percentage of singles: only 54 percent of those aged 25-29 are still single, and only 35 percent of women.

Another statistic provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics refers to the fact that nearly 90 percent [87%] of those married in the past year were single.

9,509 couples chose to get married abroad. Among the countries where couples married abroad were Cyprus, the Czech Republic, the United States, and the CIS countries.
