The government approved this morning (Sunday) the appointment of CPA Yahli Rotenberg to the position of Accountant General at the Ministry of Finance, according to the proposal of Finance Minister Yisrael Katz. The appointment was made possible after a long delay as part of the deal between Gantz and Netanyahu, which also included the appointment of Col. (res.) Hod Betzer as Director General of the Office of the Alternate Prime Minister. Rotenberg, who has in-depth knowledge of the Ministry of Finance and the Accountant General, served in a number of senior positions in the department for about 13 years, including head of the Finance and Credit Division, chief accountant, senior accountant at the Ministry of Defense headquarters, deputy accountant at the Ministry of Education, and more. In his positions over the years, he was responsible for broad professional areas, including the areas of macroeconomics and government debt financing, state guarantee instruments, credit for businesses, state loans, government liquidity management, revenues and collection, and more. For the past three years, he has served as the CFO and Chief Financial Officer of the Bezeq Group. Rotenberg is expected to take up his position in the coming days, upon the end of his employment at Bezeq. Rotenberg, 46, is a certified public accountant, with a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in business administration from Bar Ilan University.
