Torrential rain: Streets flooded in the center, rescues by boat from houses and vehicles

Due to the inclement weather: Many streets in the central cities, the coastal plain, and Haifa were flooded today (Saturday). Rescue forces helped residents evacuate using boats. A couple and a baby were rescued from their car in a flooded parking lot of a residential building in Tel Aviv. In Haifa, HaMaks, Toren, Rotam, Aliya Hanani, Golani Street on the descent to Highway 22 towards Haifa, and HaHagana Boulevard from the entrance to the city to the Dolphin intersection were closed to traffic this evening. In Ness Ziona and Yehud, residents were rescued from their homes with lifeboats, as firefighters worked quickly and with great determination to reach and provide assistance to all those trapped whose vehicles and homes were flooded. In another incident in Ness Ziona, 22 residents were rescued from a residential building that was flooded in the city. The residents did not require medical treatment and were evacuated to the homes of family members living in the area. Following the flooding, an elderly couple who were in immediate danger of death due to the rising water level inside their home were also rescued in the city. Ness Ziona Mayor Shmuel Boxer arrived at the flooded street and claimed that the responsibility for handling the water drainage lies with the municipalities of Rishon LeZion and Be'er Yaakov, whose water is discharged into Ness Ziona. Following the flooding, many trapped people were rescued from vehicles and houses by firefighters in Rishon LeZion: • Gipstein St. - Two trapped people were rescued from basement housing units. • Yigal Alon St. - Three trapped people were rescued from various vehicles from flooded vehicles. • Jerusalem St. - Two children were rescued from a vehicle that was in a deep puddle. • Shmotkin St. 20 - Five trapped people were rescued from a vehicle that was in a deep puddle. • Hemed - HaTamar St. - Three trapped people were rescued, including two girls, from a flooded apartment. • Shlomo Eliraz - Parking Lot 2 - which was flooded and fortunately no trapped people. MDA teams and fire and rescue forces worked to rescue those trapped in apartments, basements and tools throughout the night and morning hours. On the Hagana Road in Haifa heading north, the traffic jam was blocked due to flooding on the road. Rescue forces were called to assist in rescuing drivers and civilians at the scene. More flooding was recorded in Netanya, Rishon LeZion, Bat Yam, Holon, Yehud and Or Yehuda. Rain will continue to fall today, mainly in the north of the country and on the coastal plain - where there is still a risk of flooding. In addition, a significant drop in temperatures will be felt throughout the country. On Sunday, the rain will weaken, there may still be showers in the coastal plain area. The first snow of the season fell on Mount Hermon today.
