Investigators from the police's Lahav 433 (Yachbal) unit arrested a technician from Netanya on suspicion of helping detainees disrupt electronic handcuff signals - and evade house arrest supervision.
The Attorney General's Office filed a statement of claim today (Thursday) against the technician, 36, and against four suspects who paid him the bribe money.
As part of the investigation, investigators discovered that the technician, who fixes malfunctions in electronic handcuffs on behalf of an external company that provides technical services to the prison service in operating the electronic monitoring system, allegedly received bribes from detainees under house arrest, in exchange for disrupting the monitoring process.
"This way, they could violate the conditions of house arrest and electronic monitoring set by the court, without the computer system alerting them to the violation of the monitoring.".
The police noted that the suspect committed "additional actions that benefited the unlawful detainees.".
As part of the investigation, four suspects were questioned on suspicion of paying a bribe to a company employee in exchange for disrupting supervision - and, as mentioned, a prosecutor's statement was also filed against them.
