In a discussion held today (Tuesday) in the Knesset Constitution Committee on police violence, MK Yisrael Eichler addressed the police department's support for violent police officers - and demanded: "Integrate public figures and civilian entities into police department investigations so that they cannot close 90 percent of the cases in the dark, without public criticism.".

Eichler said in the discussion: "The case of Yanki Rosenberg and Zisi Margalit proves that police violence is not only in cases of demonstration. Yanki was injured while collecting planks for Lag BaOmer and Margalit was injured on the street after Jews were expelled from the synagogue. If such cases also did not receive the protection of the Police Department, and the police did not stand trial, it is no wonder that citizens feel defenseless in the face of police violence.".

""It is doubly dangerous when the secular regime intensifies the war against the Haredi public even under the cover of the coronavirus. In the case of Salmon Teke, there was such a public outcry that today no policeman dares to beat an Ethiopian. The same is true of other minorities who fall into the hands of the police. While other minorities have the protection of the media, with us it is the opposite, the media is massing and supporting violence against the Haredi.".

Eichler emphasized: "I support the committee chairman's proposal to include public figures and civilian officials in the DHA inspections, so that they will not be able to close 90% from the files in the dark, without public criticism.".
