On Rosh Chodesh Elul 5755, exactly 75 years ago today, the Rebbe of Lubavitch, zt"l, sent a letter to Rabbi Avraham Goldberg, z"l, in which he referred to his son, the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Nehemiah Goldberg zt"l - who passed away today.

In the letter, sent from 770 in the Crown Heights neighborhood, the Rebbe informs the father that he is sending "twenty-five shekels" for his son, then a young man of 14 and a half years old. The Rebbe wrote: "I was pleased to hear that our son Mr. Zalman Nehemiah, may God strengthen him to be healthy and diligent in study and fear of God, and I am sending him a gift of twenty-five shekels to benefit his health."
