Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon today (Thursday) appealed to the leaders of the protesting movements to refrain from holding demonstrations tonight, in order to be considerate of the city's residents and security forces, many of whom are fasting on this day, in light of the great difficulty and the exhausting heat. "I call on all protesters to refrain from holding a demonstration today, Tisha B'Av, out of consideration for the security forces and the city's residents, at the end of a day of fasting in severe heat," Leon said. The mayor spoke with a number of relevant parties. In their conversation and address, the mayor asked for their consideration for the city's residents and asked them to join him in this call. Leon added: "Tisha B'Av is not like other days, it is a long day of fasting that is taking place this year in exhausting heat. Out of consideration for the city's residents, most of whom are fasting, and for the security forces, and especially in light of the extreme heat, I hope that my call to refrain from demonstrations will be answered. I have appealed to the leaders of the protesters to join my call on this important day.".
