After the lynching of Haredi worshippers - including adults, women, and children - who came to pray on Lag BaOmer near the village of Beit Jan, Attorney Haim Bleicher of the Honenu organization sent several letters to the police describing the lynching, requesting action to apprehend the attackers.
However, the police responded that it was not possible to identify the attackers using the complainants' testimonies, and that the case had been transferred to the intelligence level.
A Haredim 10 reporter notes that the lynching took place on Lag BaOmer, when Haredi worshippers arrived near the village of Beit Jan, which overlooks the grave of the Rashbi of Meron, which was closed on the day of the festival due to the coronavirus.
The rioters, who arrived at the worshippers' parking lot, attacked and beat them, threw stones at them, smashed vehicle windows, etc. The worshippers were forced to evacuate the scene in a convoy secured by the police.
Up to this moment, it is not known whether the attackers have been arrested.
Now, Attorney Bleicher has sent another letter, the third in a row, describing additional testimony from a shuttle driver who was present at the scene of the lynching, and attaching photos of the attackers that he managed to take.
According to the new testimony, the shuttle driver was waiting for the worshippers in his vehicle, in a parking lot near the village of Beit Jan. While he was waiting, jeeps, horses, and ATVs began arriving, and their riders began driving wildly and threatening him.
The driver explained to them that he was just the shuttle driver, and they let him go.
At this point, the worshippers arrived at the parking lot. The driver saw how the worshipper was knocked to the ground, with the attackers kicking and hitting him all over his body, while hurling curses, insults, and statements against the Jewish people.
The shuttle driver called the police hotline, was in constant contact with them, and described what was happening before his eyes.
During the call to the police hotline, the shuttle driver requested immediate rescue of the worshippers, and also requested that police helicopters flying over Meron arrive in the area, as "there is a mob that is beating Jews to the point of real danger to their lives.".
The shuttle driver helped the Jew who was attacked, and saw how the rioters began to smash the windows of the cars in the parking lot, including throwing stones at his own vehicle.
The shuttle driver was resourceful and managed to take several photos of the attackers using the tablet he had.
Despite all of the above, the shuttle driver was not called to testify to the police about what he saw, even though he called the hotline and was in contact with the police officers on the ground.
Also, the police did not ask for the photos he took.
Now, Attorney Bleicher from the Honenu organization is requesting that the police collect testimony from the transportation driver and other witnesses, attach the recording of his call to the police hotline to the investigation file, and establish a special investigation team that will collect the testimony and evidence and bring the rioters to justice.
Attorney Haim Bleicher of the Honenu organization: "On Lag BaOmer near the village of Beit Jan, a brutal pogrom against Jews and their property took place. Despite the severity of the incident, no suspects have been arrested so far, and no statements have been taken from many victims and witnesses who contacted the police. It is impossible for there to be citizens in this country to whom the law does not apply and who are allowed to attack and vandalize without fearing that justice will be served. We will continue to press and will not relent until an investigation team is established that will locate and arrest the suspects in the attack, and until justice is served against the rioters.".
