כתב חרדים10, בועז בן ארי, עמד 400 מטר מבתיה האחרונים של שכונת הטרור סג'עייה, הממוקמת בפאתי העיר עזה.
עם תחילת דבריו של ראש הממשלה הבוקר (חמישי) החלו המחבלים להמטיר רקטות אל עבר ישראל. הצבא, שנכנס שעה קלה קודם לכן לשכונה, נתקל באש חזקה מצד מחבלי חמאס. הכוחות המשיכו את פעילותם, בחיפוי אווירי.
במהלך הפצצות חיל האוויר מוטטה פצצה ששוגרה ממטוס מסגד, ממנו ירו המחבלים אל עבר החיילים.
