What do you do when the orange color of prisoners' clothing becomes fashionable?

The sheriff of the state of Michigan has decided to change the orange prison uniforms to the traditional black and white striped colors - just because orange has become a fashionable color.

Sheriff William Paderspiel told Sky News: "I don't want to get to a point where the citizens of my county have to wonder if the man in orange next to them in the mall might be an escaped prisoner.".

The sheriff added that the shift to orange is also due to people feeling that it is 'cool' to look like prisoners. He said this trend is influenced by television shows.

""I expect that by the end of the year, all prisoners in the district will be transitioning to the new uniforms - old ones, painted in black and white stripes," said Pederspiel.
