High Court judges today (Sunday) issued a partial ruling in a petition to protect Bedouin settlements in the Negev, determining that there is no reason to interfere with the protection policy of the Bedouin settlements.
Judges Danziger, Zilbertal and Solberg found no fault in the security establishment's decision not to place defenses in the villages, and even noted that they are "close and certain that if circumstances change in a way that justifies removing defenses from their current location and moving them to the petitioners' villages, the respondents will update their decision.".
The petition to protect rural communities in the Negev was submitted on behalf of residents of Bedouin villages and the families of the girls who were hit by rocket fire, and other organizations.
The petition noted that the residents of the Bedouin villages, numbering about 100,000 civilians, live mostly in temporary structures, shacks and huts, which cannot provide protection from the rockets, and they have no shelters, shelters or MMDs.
Yesterday (Saturday), a 32-year-old resident of the Bedouin diaspora was killed by a rocket strike. His 3-month-old daughter was seriously injured, as were his wife and son. Last week, two sisters whose families are represented in the petition were injured.
The judges ordered the respondents to submit their comments on the issue within 30 days.
