MK Miki Zohar from the Likud said today (Tuesday) in an interview with Kalman Libeskind and Assaf Lieberman on Channel 2 that the only ones who hold Netanyahu's legal fate are the people of Israel and the citizens of Israel. "If they come to the polls in a few months and tell the Attorney General, the enforcement agencies, the left, and the Israeli media again that they want Netanyahu as their prime minister, with all due respect to everyone, he will remain their prime minister for many years to come, or if they decide differently and say something different at the polls, then I can tell you that this could be the end of Netanyahu's era, and the only ones who will lose from this are the citizens of Israel." According to Zohar, it is the public that determines social norms and these elections will decide Netanyahu's fate. "In the end, I think that both the Attorney General and the judicial system will have to take into account the results and see what the public thinks about what they are trying to attribute to the prime minister, because in the end, the public is the sovereign. It is possible that some Israeli citizens, perhaps not on the right but on the left, would prefer that the court determine the social norms and perhaps also the laws, but ultimately it is the public who determines them." Regarding the date of Netanyahu's hearing, Zohar said: "We are still hoping that someone in the Attorney General's office will come to their senses and decide to move the hearing date to a certain time so that the hearing will be conducted in a more fair manner towards the prime minister. I believe that the prime minister does not want to give up his right to a hearing, for one simple reason: because he truly believes that in this process he will succeed in refuting many of the claims made against him, and therefore he wants his day. "He would have liked to prepare for this much better, and if he could have had a little more time to prepare for this complicated process in which it will be decided whether or not he will ultimately be indicted, but unfortunately the Attorney General did not respond to this matter and we hope that he will change his mind. MK Zohar added that he already knows that Mandelblit will decide to indict Netanyahu. "I am not optimistic because a decision has probably been made there. I know what his decision is. He will decide to indict the Prime Minister. You see all the demonstrations near his house, you see the constant pressure from the media against him, you see that the monument of his late father is being smashed - and you wonder whether he is able to make this decision in a clean manner. "By the way, the Attorney General also said that he intends to indict the Prime Minister and this hearing is intended to try to convince the Attorney General to change his mind. Will he change his mind? I doubt it.".
