Yair Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's son, attacked the New York Times this evening (Saturday night) for publishing a cartoon depicting US President Donald Trump as blind and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a guide dog wearing a collar with a Star of David. "You are an anti-Semitic newspaper!" he tweeted, "The New York Times deliberately hid the news about the extermination of millions of Jews in Europe during World War II!" Minister Gilad Erdan was also furious: "The anti-Semitic cartoon published by the New York Times is shocking and reminiscent of Nazi propaganda during the Holocaust." "It is expected of anyone who truly fights racism and hatred of Jews to demand that the newspaper apologize and also fire the person responsible for publishing the Nazi-style cartoon that the newspaper published." The text of the apology, which is expected to appear in the printed issue on Monday, was published on the Twitter account of the newspaper's opinion section. At the beginning of the apology, the section's editors describe the cartoon: "Contains expressions of anti-Semitism." According to them, "The cartoon was offensive, and it was an error of judgment to publish it." The apology also stated that its printing was the result of an "error of judgment" and that it had been removed.
