We have no idea. The last few days, filled with the many hours of fog, distress, anxiety, anger, compassion, and emotion we experienced, have brought to us, to all of us, countless attributions to the Holy One, blessed be He, to His part, His desires, and His plans in the chilling kidnapping affair. Here are some of them: God, blessed be He, took pity and returned the bodies to the grave of Israel, God chose these three young men as a sacrifice, the kidnapping and murder are a direct result of the draft decree, God saw to it that they would be murdered immediately and not suffer, God, blessed be He, knows what is good for us, and on and on.
But among all these statements, no one asked, why did God, who loves us so much, drag us into this terrible situation in the first place? Why was it necessary to spend those two catastrophic weeks, with countless hours of anxiety, rumors, horror, and paralyzing ignorance, which filled the hearts of parents, the hearts of the family, and our hearts?
And what did these three innocent boys, who had never hurt anyone, who at their young age had not yet encountered the cruel world, do until they were forced to look straight into the barrels of their guns and the wild laughter of human animals who shot them in the head, while they accompanied the horror with voices of song and joy?
And the answer, as it turns out, is that we simply have no idea. Not even a hint. Nothing. The essence of God is so abstract and transcendent that a human being is incapable of grasping His desires, thoughts, and plans, if such human values can even be attributed to Him.
Recognizing him based on historical events or following an act of reward or punishment is a very poor recognition. We do not know why he allowed a million and a half children in the Holocaust to be murdered in cold blood, or what happened in the skies during the Habonim disaster, and we also do not grasp what his plan – which is merely a convenient human term – is in the context of the three innocent boys.
Our human attributions to God, and the retrospective explanations for an event that we have difficulty grasping within the framework of a 'just world,' are merely a kind of relief and calm for us, and through them we try to 'reorder' the normative, orderly, and decent world that we knew. They do not truly come from a place of knowledge or interpretation that rests on any theological or faith-based basis.
Our own murderers. A 14-year-old boy, with a kind face, was kidnapped from his home, beaten violently, murdered and burned, apparently at least, by Jews, in revenge for the murder of the three boys. Condemnation of the terrible act was heard almost simultaneously upon the discovery of the body, and from all sides. But it seems that the arsenal of harsh words reserved for Arab terrorism is not used when it comes to an Arab from the village. It is possible that the Hazla rule "All Israel is Arab to each other" that turns the Jewish people into one organic body - which among the Arab nation is simply Does not exist , dulls the pain and disgust of the death of a boy, whose loss is especially painful for his nuclear family.
However, if the police's assumption is correct, it must be said in the loudest, clearest, and most severe voice: the boy's murderers are vile Jews, despicable child slaughterers, who allowed the animalistic feeling of revenge within them to run wild and abuse a helpless boy, whose only sin is the fact that he was born to a Muslim mother. If they are caught, they are not entitled to mercy, and deserve life imprisonment, without any possibility of pardon until the day they die.
The grandfather and the grandson. ""Am I the only one who noticed that, painfully ironically, the chairman of the 'Out for Change' organization who was interviewed on the 'Question Marks' program is named Moshe Schoenfeld?" I wondered rhetorically last week.

As someone who read and knew, even if superficially, Rabbi Moshe Schönfeld, zt"l, perhaps the greatest of the Haredi ideologues of the early days of the state, and the man closest to the Visionary Ish and the Rabbi of Brisk, I allow myself to doubt the assumption of Moshe Schönfeld the grandson, who abandoned religion and became one of the leaders of the organization that encourages everything that his grandfather fought against.
