Direct hit by rocket from Gaza: Two factories in Sderot caught fire • Watch: The moment of the explosion

The Palestinians launched four rockets tonight (Saturday) towards Sderot and the settlements of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. One rocket hit a plastics factory in the industrial zone in Sderot, which began to catch fire. After the rocket hit, a large fire broke out in two adjacent factories. There are hazardous materials at the site. At least 4 workers who were in one factory managed to safely escape.  Ten fire crews from Sderot, Ashkelon and Beersheba brought the fire under control after just over an hour and prevented it from spreading to other factories. Following the explosion and the intense fire that broke out in the factories, thick smoke billowed over the southern city. The fire apparently broke out after a gas tank exploded at a paint factory. A nearby plastics factory also caught fire.  Three more rockets were fired into Israeli territory this evening and landed in open areas in the Ashkelon Coast, Shaar Negev and Sdot Negev regional councils. In these cases, there were no casualties and no damage was caused. The Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the firing into Sderot. MDA teams provided medical treatment and evacuated three lightly injured people to Barzilai Hospital, including: a 50-year-old man with blunt force trauma to his limbs, a 23-year-old man with minor burns to his hands, and a 59-year-old man with minor injuries to his body. שלושתם ככל הנראה שהו או חלפו באזור בעת הנפילה. בשלב זה לא ידוע על נפגעים נוספים. "צוותי מד"א במרחבים לכיש ונגב מערבי ערוכים וממשיכים לעמוד בכוננות", נאמר בהודעת מד"א. דובר המשטרה מסר: "אזור התעשייה בשדרות יישאר סגור עד תום פעילות הכיבוי ותום הסכנה לציבור. כביש 232 מצומת גבים עד צומת איבים סגור לתנועה בשני הכיוונים. בשלב זה טרם ברורה סיבת הדליקה במפעל והאם נגרמה כתוצאה מנפילת רקטה. הנושא נמצא בבדיקת גורמי החבלה של משטרת ישראל". שעות אחדות לאחר ירי הרקטות לעבר יישובי הדרום, דיווחו כלי תקשורת פלסטיניים, כי צה"ל החל לתקוף ברצועת עזה. על פי הדיווחים, מטוסי קרב של חיל האוויר הפציצו במרכז הרצועה. דובר צה"ל מסר, כי כלי טיס של חיל-האוויר תקף שלושה משגרים מוטמנים במרכז רצועת עזה.      זאת לאור ירי הרקטות שבוצע לעבר שטח מדינת ישראל.  זוהו פגיעות מדויקות במטרות. בימים האחרונים נורה מספר רב של רקטות מרצועת עזה לעבר יישובי הדרום. Eight rockets were fired last night. The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted two of them, which were fired at the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council. Two more exploded in open areas in the council. Earlier, three rockets exploded in open areas in the Eshkol Regional Council, and a mortar shell exploded near the perimeter fence in the southern Gaza Strip. There were no casualties and no damage was caused in the incidents. אתמול (שישי) בצהריים חיסל צה"ל שני פעילי טרור בעזה, כאשר  כלי טיס של חיל האוויר הפציץ רכב במחנה הפליטים שאטי שבצפון הרצועה, בו נסעו אוסמה אל-חסומי בן 26 מבית להיא, ומוחמד אל-פסיח בן 23 מהעיר עזה. השניים השתייכן לארגון ועדות ההתנגדות העממית. דובר צה"ל מסר כי שני הפעילים היו מעורבים בירי לעבר שטח מדינת ישראל בשבועות האחרונים ועסקו בימים האחרונים בתכנון פיגועי טרור חמורים נגד תושבי ישראל. "צה"ל ימשיך לפעול בנחישות וככל שיידרש נגד כל גורם אשר מפעיל טרור נגד מדינת ישראל. ארגון הטרור חמאס, על כל שלוחותיו, הוא הכתובת ועליו האחריות", נאמר בהודעת דובר צה"ל.
