In the morning, a 14-year-old boy arrived at a daycare in the ultra-Orthodox city of Modi'in Illit, approached the caregiver, and asked to take one of the children out, a 10-month-old toddler, claiming that the toddler's mother had asked him to take him out for 20 minutes. The caregiver handed the toddler over to the young man and called the mother to check whether she had indeed requested to remove her son from the daycare. During the phone call, it became clear that there had never been any such thing: the mother had not asked anyone to take her son out, and that she did not know the boy.The panicked caregiver immediately called the police, and Elite Intelligence Patrol vehicles began searching throughout the city. The police soon located the boy and the toddler, who was unharmed and very scared. The boy was detained for questioning with his parents at the youth department at Binyamin police station.During his interrogation, he claimed that he committed the act because he did not have younger siblings, and therefore wanted to know how it felt. The boy, who has no criminal record, was released on conditions. The kindergarten teacher, however, was summoned for questioning tomorrow under a warning for negligence. And the toddler? He was returned to his terrified parents.
