In parallel with efforts to locate the three kidnapped boys, the IDF is planning changes to the security of the trams in Judea and Samaria, in order to prevent further cases of kidnapping in the future.
According to the plan being formulated by the IDF, security cameras will be installed at every tram stop in Judea and Samaria, in addition to those currently in place. At the same time, lighting will be increased at dark and remote stations, and concrete railings will be installed to prevent car bombings. In fact, in places where there are cameras and lighting, there are no kidnappings. According to security sources, this is a deterrent measure that is expected to have positive results.
Since the kidnapping, a dedicated security force, including officers, resistance fighters, and combat soldiers alongside police, has been patrolling intersections. In addition, a first-of-its-kind plan to improve public transportation in the Judea and Samaria territories has been approved by the government and the IDF, and will go into effect soon.
The deputy commander of the Yehuda Regional Brigade in the Hebron sector, Lt. Col. Shimon Peretz, told the IDF website that following the change, "we will create an even more extensive military presence in the Trampiadas, and deter future kidnappings.".
The patrols themselves will patrol throughout the area and ensure that there are no suspicious cases.
