Good news from Soroka Hospital in Beersheba: The condition of the Apache pilot, who was seriously injured in the crash of the combat helicopter last Monday, has improved, and he has regained consciousness and is breathing on his own.

Dr. Moti Klein, director of the general intensive care unit at Soroka Hospital, said today (Saturday) that after the crash, the pilot arrived at the trauma room in very serious condition, suffering from a severe multi-organ injury: "After stabilizing his condition, he underwent a lengthy surgery, after which he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Now his condition has improved, he has regained consciousness and is breathing on his own.".

On Wednesday, the injured pilot began to respond for the first time, after the decision was made to stop the anesthetic drugs. Masoroka reported at the time that his condition continues to be serious and stable. The pilot even began to move his legs and arms slightly, and the hospital said that this probably indicates that the spinal injury is not irreversible and that the decision of the team of doctors in the trauma department to operate on him immediately was dramatic and significant.

As we recall, Major (res.) Dudi Zohar, of blessed memory, was killed in the fatal accident.
