The elected Labor Party Chairman, Avi Gabbay, attacked Yesh Atid Chairman, Yair Lapid, this morning (Thursday), in response to For the things Lapid slammed him with last night in an interview with News 2. In an interview with the 'Daklasgal' program on Galei Tzahal, Gabbay said: "It's really strange that on the day the submarine affair explodes, when the prime minister's lawyer and the director general of the Ministry of Communications are under investigation, Lapid comes to the studio and instead of attacking Netanyahu about the submarines and the investigations, he attacks his opposition friends. I wonder - is this how they think about changing power?" Gabbay later responded to Lapid's claim that Gabbay lacks experience and has never sat in a cabinet meeting and had to make difficult decisions. "Lapid talked about being in the political-security cabinet during Operation Protective Edge. Let us remember that Protective Edge, according to the Comptroller's report, was not the most successful war of the State of Israel. "This wasn't the cabinet of the Six-Day War, so a bad experience is not exactly something we want to have," Gabbay quipped. According to Gabbay, his lack of military experience shouldn't have too much of an impact because whoever comes to the position of prime minister relies on and is assisted by a high-quality, professional security system. "Most decisions are recommendations from the professional echelons," he explained. "I know how to make decisions. I come with more managerial experience than Lapid. When he attacks me for experience, it's a bit strange." Gabbay referred to the polls: "There's a phenomenon here. The voters who voted for the Zionist Camp and in the polls until last week said they would vote for Yesh Atid are returning." When asked about his positions and whether he was willing to define himself as a leftist, Gabbay replied: "I don't like definitions. When I'm asked about a number of issues, for example security, economic policy and welfare, my positions are rooted in the left. You think that the people of Israel vote according to the left or the right. That's not the case. The people of Israel vote according to leadership.".
