An 'Urdu identity card' was launched in Beit Shemesh today: The 'Friends' project, which received the blessing of all the rabbis and rebbes in the city, is a new initiative, under which anyone found to be "clean from the dangers of the Internet" will receive a 'Friend' card because they are part of the Haredi community.
According to the activists, this is a "historic solution to the nightmare of the Internet's damage," and the pilot is taking place in Beit Shemesh. If the program gains momentum in Beit Shemesh and is successful, it will be launched in all Haredi concentrations.
The goal of the program, says a city businessman, is that "if you don't have a Haredi ID card, it means you don't have access to Talmud Torah, yeshivot, Kamcha Dafischa, a place in the community or in a Hasidic courtyard. You will simply be deprived of the rights that a Haredi receives in his community.".
How will it work?
""An external company, which employs private investigators, will receive answers to a questionnaire from every Haredi resident in Beit Shemesh. In the questionnaire, the resident will have to prove his Haredi status - and if he is found eligible, the company will issue him a membership certificate.".
How will he prove it?
""The questionnaire will include a family name and an ID number, in Hebrew and English. Using the names, a search will be conducted on social networks, Facebook and Twitter, to check whether they hold accounts there. Those joining will also need to bring bank account statements and credit card details.".
""If the credit card details show that the person is a subscriber to Netvision or Golan Telecom, he will need to bring confirmation from the Rabbinical Committee for Communications Affairs that the connection is filtered. The same goes for the internet at home.".
""Another important point: Assuming you received a membership card fraudulently and they find out that there is a card in your name on Facebook or that you have a non-kosher phone or unfiltered Internet - the community card will be revoked from you and in the middle of the school year you will find your children at home.".
How will they find out who lied?
""Private investigators will monitor the accounts and cross-reference the information all the time.".
