Hundreds of Satmar Hasidic leaders participated this week in the "Days of Light" journey with the Satmar Rebbe - a special journey to the graves of the righteous in Europe. The journey was conducted on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone for the large beit midrash in the city of Sighet - the residence of the heads of the lineage of the Sighet Satmar House. After in recent years the Satmar community purchased the cemetery, synagogue, and house of the rebbes in Sighet, Romania, where the "Yatev Lev", "Kedushat Yot" and "Ha'atzei Chaim" rabbis served as rabbis. As reported by Haredim 10, only those who paid $7,000, as part of the expenses of purchasing and building the beit midrash in Sighet, joined the special journey with the rebbe. The rebbe's journey began last Monday, when the rebbe left his home in Kiryat Yoel - on his way to Europe. Upon his departure, the students of the yeshiva in Kiryat Yoel were waiting for him, who asked their teacher and rabbi, the Rebbe, to remind them of the graves of the righteous. After a short visit to Antwerp, the Rebbe landed in Lemberg - where he was greeted at the airport by the court governors and Jewish officials in the city, who came to greet the Rebbe. From the airport, the Rebbe departed for the city of Zyditszow, and from there he continued to the city of Belz. The next day, they went to Permishlan, Saszow, and Anipoli. On Shabbat evening, the Rebbe and his entourage went to the Zion of the Advocate of Israel in Berditschow, and on Shabbat they stayed near the Zion of the Ba'al Shem Tov in Mezhiboz. In a special tent that was set up in the city, the Rebbe held his Shlakhanu, and on Shabbat, the Rebbe and the Hasidim went to the Ba'al Shem Tov's tent. On Sunday, the 25th of Iyar, the day of the rabbi's death, Rabbi Yekutiel Yoda Teitelbaum, son of the Atzi Chaim and the last rabbi in the city of Sigüt who was murdered in Auschwitz, the Rebbe arrived on a special flight to Sigüt. After the Aliyah to Zion, the Rebbe arrived at the site where the Beit Midrash stood before the destruction, and the Rebbe laid the cornerstone for the beginning of the rebuilding of the Beit Midrash. He also thanked the mayor for allowing the transfer of ownership to the Satmar community. On Monday, they continued to the city of Ohel - to the Ohel of the head of the lineage, author of "Yishmach Moshe," and continued to Rimnov and the graves of other righteous people in Hungary. In the city of Sanz, where the journey arrived on Monday, a Torah reading was held, donated by several Hasidic leaders to the city's guest house, and then they made an aliyah to the Zion of Baal Hadbrei Chaim from Sanz, Z.A. On Tuesday, they prayed the morning prayer in the city of Shinwa, from where they continued to Lizansk. After making aliyah on the Zion of Rabbi Elimelech, they left for the city of Risha - for a flight back to New York. Watch the journey. [Gallery]
