""Friend of the Soul" is an ancient, nostalgic melody, shrouded in ancient majesty, whose foundation is in the Holy Mountains of the Holy Courtyard of Maalitz, and according to tradition it was composed by the Rebbe of Maalitz himself.

The melody, full of longing and yearning, was received in all Hasidic courts and throughout the Diaspora of Israel, and is sung in unison on Shabbat Achim during the third meal, during the time of the feast of the Lord, and in times of joy and elation.

This sacred melody was first performed and recorded by the musician and master of styles, Rabbi David Werdiger, whose death anniversary falls on this day.

This piece was recently performed by Israel Adler, the Narnana Choir, and Yanki Rubin at the Bar Mitzvah celebration of a family from the United States, who specifically requested to perform the beloved and nostalgic piece.
