Still stressed? Defense Minister Moshe (Bogi) Ya'alon today accepted the recommendation of the IDF and security officials to extend the seizure order that applied to the yeshiva in Yitzhar, as a result of which Border Police forces took control of the yeshiva and have been there ever since. The seizure order was extended for an additional three months. The seizure of the yeshiva by the forces was carried out due to nationalist criminal activity that took place in the area.

Following a discussion on the subject, Defense Minister Ya'alon said today: "We continue in an uncompromising struggle against the nationalist crime of extremist elements. We will not relent and will continue to act harshly against those criminal terrorist elements who act against IDF soldiers, police officers, and innocent Palestinians, and therefore I accepted the recommendation of security officials to extend the seizure order at the meeting.".
""This violent activity does not reflect Jewish values and is immoral, and it harms the State of Israel and the overwhelming, state-sponsored, law-abiding majority in the settlement. We are in the midst of a broad process to address the root cause of this phenomenon, and we must not allow this type of terrorism to raise its head. The capture of the yeshiva by the security forces has a positive and restraining effect in all that relates to lowering the level of violence in Yitzhar and its surroundings, as well as strengthening the status of the state forces in the settlement, who are interested in expelling the violent elements from their midst.".
As you may recall, about two months ago, after a week of clashes between settlers and security forces in Yitzhar, the IDF decided to issue a 'takeover order' on the yeshiva and station a company of Border Police soldiers there. An action that was called cowardly and belligerent, and led to a flood of protests and claims against the army and the Ministry of Defense.
