Green space: The Elad Municipality placed caravans in the city's amphitheater, disrupting residents' use of the park.
Last week, several trailers were placed in the amphitheater area, which is defined as green space (every area in the city has a classification, with green space specifically for gardens, and brown space designated for public buildings. Y.H.), which were moved from a side location on the edge of the city.
The caravans are intended for educational activities for dropout youth, which take place on site.
M., a resident of the city, tells Haredim10 that the caravans do indeed disturb residents who come to the park. "In addition to the fact that the caravans take up space, they also constitute another 'facility' for children, and it's not the safest. They couldn't find a place in the entire city, only the park area?"'
Following the placement of the caravans, several residents approached the Haredim10 and posed questions:
• The mayor promised that the city and the areas would be returned to the city's residents, but instead he is placing public buildings on the few park areas in the city that are left for emission - did anyone even ask the residents' opinion?
• The municipality is wasting residents' money in vain, in light of the fact that following legal proceedings initiated by the neighborhood's residents, the mayor will be forced to find another place for the trailers and move them back and forth throughout the city at the expense of tax money.
• The municipality recently installed cameras that cover the entire park area, after several acts of vandalism were committed in the park - were the cameras installed intended to ensure the peace of the park from vandalism by dropout youth?
We directed our questions to the Elad Municipality, which responded: "The buildings were located in an unused location until last week, and were moved, at the donor's request and due to immediate need, to a suitable area behind the 'mini pitch', on the edge of the park parking lot. They were moved during a permit process as part of an unusual use.".
""The cameras were installed in the municipal park, and without connection or proximity to the building, to allow for supervision and prevention of vandalism in the park during hours when it is empty of visitors, and as part of the activity of restoring a sense of safety to residents.".
