Death by accident in Ramat Hasharon: A 40-year-old man was evacuated this morning (Tuesday) suffering from hypothermia, after being found lying in a puddle of water outside his home.
Rescue forces evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately the doctors had no choice but to pronounce him dead.
MDA personnel Eyal Shemesh and paramedic Aharon Golibrodsky, who treated the man, said: "When we arrived at the scene, we saw a man about 40 years old lying in a puddle near the entrance to the house, suffering from severe hypothermia. We pulled him out of the water and immediately began providing him with life-saving first aid.
""The treatment included warming the man's body, breathing, resuscitation medications, and massages using an automatic heart massage device found in MDA's intensive care unit. Thanks to the automatic device, we were able to evacuate the patient to the hospital quickly, while performing CPR and when his condition was very serious.".
Dr. Chen Elvira, a senior physician in the emergency department at Meir Hospital, said: "A 40-year-old man arrived at the emergency medical center lifeless, with CPR efforts and severe hypothermia. The trauma room team continued CPR efforts for about another hour, which included massages, medications, and ventilation, while warming the body with various means, but ultimately had to declare him dead.".
The circumstances of the incident are not yet clear.
