Which population is larger in the US, the Jewish or the Muslim? A Gallup poll published on the Globes website revealed that the proportion of Jews is greater than the proportion of Muslims. The gap between Islam and Judaism is 1.1 percent: 0.6 of all citizens define themselves as Muslims, and 1.7 define themselves as Jews.

Despite the relatively low number of Muslims, it turns out that in 20 of the 50 states in the United States, Islam is the second largest religion. Judaism, on the other hand, is second largest in about 15 states in the United States.

However, despite the relatively high number of Jews, it turns out that they attribute less importance to religion in their lives than the other respondents. In other words: they are the least religious of all members of other religions in the United States. Nearly 60 percent of the Jewish respondents answered negatively to the question: "Is religion important in your daily life?" Only about 40 percent answered this question positively. In contrast, nearly 80 percent of Muslims answered that the Muslim religion plays an important role in their daily lives. Among Christians, the picture is similar: 87 percent of Mormons attribute importance to their religion, 79 percent of Protestants, and 70 percent of Catholics. Hence the similarity in the answer to the question "How often do you visit a synagogue/church/mosque?" 65 percent of Jews responded that they never or rarely do, while 64 percent of Muslims responded that they visit the mosque at least once a month, as did Christians. Christian State

The dominant religion in the United States is, of course, Christianity, with no less than 77 percent of all American citizens defining themselves as Christians.

A slightly more detailed breakdown shows that of the 77 percent, 52 percent are Protestant, 23 percent Catholic, and two percent Mormon. 15 percent define themselves as having no religious identity.

The areas where Judaism is considered the second largest religion are the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Boston area, South Florida, Chicago area, Minneapolis, St. Paul, the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and Northern California.
