Presidential Elections • Shas convenes: Deri will present the MKs' positions to the 'Council'"

Less than a week until the final round of the presidential elections: The Shas faction met this afternoon (Thursday) at the movement's offices on Har Hotzvim in Jerusalem and discussed the question of who the party's Knesset members would vote for.  עם תום הישיבה, הודיע דוברו של יו"ר ש"ס אריה דרעי: "בתום הישיבה, לאחר שמיעת כל החברים, הוחלט כי יו"ר התנועה הרב אריה דרעי יביא את דבר הח"כים בפני נשיא וחברי מועצת חכמי התורה שיורו לחברי הכנסת כיצד לנהוג". במהלך הישיבה דנו חברי הכנסת בשאלה מי מבין ששת המתמודדים טוב יותר לציבור החרדי. Shas MKs are divided on the question of who the preferred candidate is, with some MKs preferring Ruben Rivlin, compared to growing support among MKs for former Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik - support initially led by MK Yaakov Margi. As mentioned, after the faction meeting, the Shas chairman will forward the MKs' recommendations to the president and members of the Council of Torah Sages - who will decide who to support.
