Shock, jolt, shock.
All of these words are just a preview of the real feeling that gripped the citizens of Israel last weekend.
The political system has always known ups and downs. That's its nature. Politics is measured by its unpredictability.
A person who is a liar, a schemer, and a manipulator will be labeled a 'politician', and rightly so. Not as a personality, but as a function. It's not for nothing that the political system is defined as an artificial island located in the heart of a national sewer. Smelly there, unstable there, and most of all – surprising there.
In a brilliant political move, the prime minister cooked up the current campaign, with the leaders of the Zionist camp on the menu, mixed together like egg whites, mixed and whipped.
No one predicted the real drama that unfolded under the table, between the prime minister and Avigdor Lieberman. No one dared to think that Bozhi Herzog was nothing more than a marionette with a torn wing, serving as a cover story for another brilliant and unexpected move.
When everyone was talking about a unity government between the right and the left (yes, you'll laugh, once the Likud was right and Labor was left. Check it out, there's evidence), Netanyahu's people were busy with completely different discussions.
While the coalition members were debating which portfolios they would have to give up in favor of the largest opposition party, the negotiators were already sewing the defense minister's suit for the next successor. The exercise was brilliant, no doubt.
In 2020, he will also appear in the new citizenship book. The man who has reigned for twenty years, almost continuously, has proven to the world that we know nothing more about him than we think we know.
When the deal was revealed, many hats were worn. The incumbent defense minister was kicked out of his high position in disgrace, while his military boots will be worn by those who know the army from the Independence Day parades.
From the height of joy, to the depths of mourning, blessed is He who distinguishes between the sacred and the profane.
No one from the right-wing camp truly regretted the departure of the gray man from his high seat. The anarchy that began to gather momentum in the IDF corridors, encouraged by the minister, along with the incident of the soldier who shot in Hebron, caused the masses of the people to look a little differently at the one who was the founding Chief of Staff and Minister of Defense serving in Operation Protective Edge.
The joy for Eid was greater than the thought that one day, in the evening, Bibi and Yvette would come out to calm the people from the missile barrages.
Whatever happens, the sense of security that a Sayeret Matkal fighter and a former Chief of Staff provided in military terms will never be provided again by a prime minister and a defense minister by appointment.

But hey, we didn't come to talk politics.
That is, it is true that we are all citizens of the State of Israel, and even if we are not fans of politics and are not really interested in the corridors of the Knesset, the sensation that has been created still has great power to influence even small people like us. But still, politics is politics. And our sages have already said: 'Stay away from ugliness and from what is similar to it, and from what is similar to what is similar to it.'.
We moved away.
But small dots, twinkling like bright stars, also shine in the midrash houses from the move that has been made, and it is impossible to ignore them.
Until about two weeks ago, Moshe Ya'alon's place in the Defense Ministry seemed like the most stable place in the Middle East. No one dared to think or imagine that something would happen. Even the biggest cynics, those who supported the soldier who shot him and were against the Defense Minister, didn't dare wish for him to be forced to resign. It seemed illusory and impossible.
You know what? It's still crazy.
And yet, we are witnessing a supernatural, illogical move that took place right before our eyes. He who thought that his throne would be stable above all ministers, comes to know that there is one king, unique and special, who determines who will be what.
No, there is no joy for the Jews here. Absolutely not. To Bogey Ya'alon's credit, it should be said that after he was called to the home of Maran Ha-Gar'a Yosef ztk"l and asked to leave the authority to recruit yeshiva students in his hands, he did everything in his power not to damage the delicate fabric of the status quo. And he succeeded. This right remains with him forever.
There is also no criticism here of the arrogance, if there was any, regarding the mindset in the IDF. In order to visit, one must first 'visit'. And we visit other places, thanks to Kel.
There is a direct look here at the power of the Creator, which is revealed to us only sometimes, when He proves to all of us who the true owner of the house is.
No one has control over anything. Unless that something is the Torah, then control is not only over what man has bought, but over all of creation.
The strength of a Torah scholar at dusk is better than the strength of a chief of staff raised above a people whose stature is upright.
