More neglect in Modi'in Illit? Work to renovate the road connecting Kiryat Sefer to HaFetziba has been going on for about six months, and residents are forced to drive on a road with potholes and stones.
About six months ago, work began on the renovation and expansion of the road connecting Kiryat Sefer to the Green Park and Hatziva neighborhoods. As part of the renovations, infrastructure work was also carried out, mainly on the water infrastructure. However, the work continues and continues, and the residents see no end in sight.
Residents who contacted the Haredim10 say that the work on the site is carried out twice a week, and even then only a small number of workers arrive at the site, sometimes only two or three workers - which causes the work to continue.
This delay causes real suffering for residents, who are forced to drive on a rough road, full of potholes, stones and iron bars. Vehicles are destroyed, traffic is delayed, and every trip to pick up the children in the morning for school in Kiryat Sefer becomes a nightmare.
K., a resident of the neighborhood, says: "Access to Heftziba and Green Park is practically blocked. My car is already destroyed from these trips. Every day I drive to Kiryat Sefer for school and to the children's schools, and it's a nightmare. The car bounces and stutters the entire trip, and the children suffer from it. And this is not a day or two.".
It should be noted that in Modi'in Elite there is no municipal water corporation, separate from the municipality, as is the case throughout the country, and the water department is an integral part of the municipality's departments and is under its full responsibility.
The road renovation is being carried out by the Israel Roads Company (IRC), and the infrastructure work on site is actually being carried out by Mekorot, through an external contractor who won the tender.
The response from the Modi'in Elite Municipality could not be obtained, as it does not respond to websites. A response from Mekorot and the Israeli Defense Forces has not yet been received; when it is received, it will be published.
