After 20 years, the famous chewing gum wall in the city of Seattle, USA, has been cleaned up by authorities.

'The 'Gum Wall' is actually a series of long walls located in front of a theater in Seattle, Washington, and traditionally people used to stick chewing gum on them.

Over the years, the colorful chewing gums accumulated and crossed the million mark, and the site became a tourist attraction.

The strange custom began after people waiting in line for a show would chew gum, and when it was their turn, they would stick it on the wall, or on the iron pipes opposite, and even on the theater box office windows. Later, people began to create interesting works from the chewed gum, and thousands of greeting cards and souvenirs were also glued using the gum.

Local authorities in Washington, D.C., understood that the site was a tourist attraction, but its sanitary damage was extensive. In recent years, they say, it had also become an attraction for rats. The wall was cleaned for hours using powerful steam cleaners.

""It's a shame this is a historical symbol of the city, it shouldn't have been cleaned," said Jennifer, a local resident.
