Watch: Bicycle as a gift to 13-year-old boy critically injured in Pisgat Ze'ev attack

Nechama Forta: Naor Ben Ruth, the 13-year-old boy who was critically injured in the attack in Pisgat Ze'ev and was released from the hospital about two weeks ago, received a pair of new bicycles as a gift today (Sunday) from the Shefat police station, in a particularly moving ceremony that was held at the initiative of the Pisgat Ze'ev Community Administration - in honor of his Bar Mitzvah.

הנער בן ה-13, אשר נפצע באורח אנוש בפיגוע הדקירה שביצעו שני מחבלים ערבים, בני 15 ו-13, בשכונת פסגת זאב לפני כחודש, שוחרר לביתו לאחר הליך החלמה ניסי. מיד לאחר הפיגוע פונה הנער לבית החולים 'הדסה הר הצופים', והוכנס לניתוח, כששהוא במצב קשה מאוד, מונשם ומורדם, והרופאים כמעט נואשים מחייו. בהמשך הוא טופל ממושכות ביחידה לטיפול נמרץ ובמחלקה הכירורגית –  ובהמשך שוחרר מבית החולים כשמצבו מוגדר טוב. גם האברך בן ה-21 שנפצע קשה באותו פיגוע נפרד לפני כשבועיים מהצוות הרפואי ושוחרר לביתו. הפיגוע החל ברחוב הארבעה בשכונה, שם דקרו השניים את האברך ופצעו אותו קשה. הפצוע נמלט לרחוב השישה עשר, שם עצר אוטובוס שהרחיק אותו ממקום הפיגוע והוא טופל על ידי כונני ההצלה בתוך האוטובוס. שני המחבלים המשיכו במעלה רחוב השישה עשר, הבחינו בנער היהודי בן ה-13 רכוב על אופניים, שיצא מחנות שם קנה ממתקים, דקרו אותו ופצעו אותו באורח אנוש.

At this point, the terrorists began to flee. One of them was hit by a vehicle, and the other was shot by a Border Police officer and a policeman. The 15-year-old terrorist died and the 13-year-old terrorist who was hit by the vehicle was taken to the hospital, where they recovered.

Prof. Ahmed Eid, director of the surgical department at Hadassah Mount Scopus, who headed the team of surgeons who saved the boy's life, said when the boy began communicating with his family: "Our boy still has a long way to go in rehabilitation, of course, but I am happy that overall his condition is good and stable, and the indicators show progress.".
