The scarecrow or the large robot – depending on who you ask – in the picture is nothing more than a sentry, a border guard, of the new country: Zakhistan, located near the state of Utah in the United States.

Haven't you heard of this country? Well, that's what we're here for.

Zach Landsberg purchased a plot of land in the desert area near Utah through the global shopping site eBay, and declared it a new country with a flag (in red-yellow colors), an official passport, and organized political institutions.

The president of the new state is, of course, Landsberg himself.

For three weeks, Landsberg maintained an embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, housed within the city's art museum.

""My idea is to turn this into a real state," Landsberg said in television interviews.

""It seems impossible, but I'm trying to make it happen. I want to see how far I can go with my new sovereignty.".

In the meantime, Landsberg pays taxes and property taxes to the Texas district, but he refers to this as a 'favor.'.

''Zakistan' is 60 kilometers from the nearest city, and anyone interested in visiting the new and young country is allowed to purchase passports. Their cost: $40.
