The great rabbis and heads of Sephardic yeshivahs in Jerusalem have issued a call in recent days to convene tonight (Monday), the eve of Rosh Chodesh Nisan, for an information rally and outcry against the draft decree. The rally will take place at the intersection of Shmuel Hanevi - Yehezkel streets in Jerusalem.

The rabbis wrote in their letter: "We call on all our brothers to come and take part in the great assembly that will be held on Monday, the 1st of April, on Yehezkel Street at the corner of Shmuel the Prophet, to cry out and make heaven and earth hear our words that we will not be silent or rest until this terrible decree is repealed. And a great duty is placed on everyone to do everything until the terrible conscription decree, which borders on spiritual destruction, is repealed, and those who violate it are worse than those who are killed.".

The letter was signed by the great rabbis and yeshivot leaders, including the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Tzedaka, head of the Porat Yosef yeshiva, the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Cohen, head of the Yakirei Jerusalem yeshiva, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Sofer, head of the Kaf HaChaim yeshiva, the Gaon Rabbi Ben Zion Motzfi, head of the 'Bnei Zion' yeshiva, the Kabbalist Gaon Rabbi David Batzri, head of the Hashalom yeshiva, the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Cohen, rabbi of the Shmuel Hanevi neighborhood, the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Yirchi, the Gaon Rabbi Zion Cohen, and the Gaon Rabbi Benyahu Shmueli, head of the Nahar Shalom yeshiva. Additional rabbis who did not have time to sign the call confirmed their participation, such as the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Tawfik, head of the Be'er Yehuda yeshiva, and more.

Sephardic yeshivahs have informed their students who are finishing their winter term today to participate in the rally. Likewise, yeshivahs in Jerusalem that have not yet finished their winter term will send their students to participate.

The rabbis of Sephardic Judaism express their concern that military and government officials are seeking to fill the "targets" and "quotas" of conscription specifically from among the Sephardic public, which is not sufficiently aware of the danger of conscription and the spiritual danger in the army. The rabbis said that tonight's gathering has a dual purpose: to awaken the public of the Mizrahi community to the danger of conscription, and to provide practical instructions to parents and young men, and also to show the various military officials that the attempt to conscript the Mizrahi community will encounter a wall of severe resistance, and that the Sephardic public is not "easy prey," God willing.

At the rally, which will take place at 8:30 p.m., the rabbis Rabbi Moshe Tzedakah, Rabbi Ben Zion Motzepi, Rabbi Yehuda Cohen, Rabbi Benyahu Shmueli, Rabbi Aharon Yirchi, and Rabbi David Batzri will speak.

At the end of the rally, those gathered will say, "We accept the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven," and then the congregation will recite the prayer of the Kabbalist Rabbi Salman Motzfi, ZIA, for the annulment of the draft decree, including a severe curse on anyone who attempts to draft the young men of Israel into the army.
