Six yeshiva students, about 20 years old, lost their way in the Wadi Kelt area in the northern Judean Desert, and reached the Jericho bypass road, where they tried to hail a ride.
Already in the initial stages of the incident, concerns arose that the boys had likely reached the outskirts of the city of Jericho. Members of the Megilot rescue unit were called to the area to assist the army forces, who began searching for the boys.
After several hours of searching, the boys were located by the unit's search teams in the Jericho bypass area. The boys were instructed to wait in a hiding place in the area until rescuers arrived.
The boys were then rescued from their hiding place, safe and sound, and made their way back to Mitzpe Jericho. The rescue was first reported by Benzi Leyzerowitz of Kol Chai radio.
