Another online protest by soldiers: After the "David Hanahlawi" protest that gained widespread momentum, a new protest is now coming to social media, and it too began with Nahal fighters - this time about the evacuation of outposts.
Today, Central Command commanders announced to soldiers that in the coming days they will participate in an operation to evacuate illegal outposts. The soldiers, who were outraged by the order that would oblige them to confront the settlers, uploaded photos to Facebook with the caption "Jews are not being evacuated." The photos were published on the website 0404.
Within an hour, additional photos of soldiers from other brigades and battalions began to appear, expressing support for the struggle of the soldiers of Battalion 50 in Nahal.
The soldiers are protesting that they are being involved in politically and publicly sensitive issues, even though they are not supposed to actually evacuate settlers, but only secure the roads leading to the outposts. The actual evacuation will be carried out by Border Police personnel.
An IDF spokesman responded: "The use of social media as a tool of protest in this case is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of the fundamental values of the IDF as an army operating in a democratic country. This case is a clear example of the cynical exploitation and political use that are made possible under the cover of anonymity and freedom of expression that are common on social media, and it is not a substitute for proper and appropriate command discourse that is required in such cases.".
