Tel Aviv residents woke up this morning (Monday) to a morning of excavations: During the night, bulldozers began working full force on the construction of the first station of the light rail project around Allenby Street, which resulted in the closure of streets in the area.
Drivers arriving in the area will have to get used to new traffic arrangements in the coming years.
As early as last night at 9:00 PM, blockages began from Ramchal Street in the city to Allenby, which will force some drivers to change their driving route.
The permitted working hours in the railway excavations are 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, with night work only being carried out with special permission.
"It is likely that those who will lose out from the work will be owners of shops and businesses located in the excavation area.""
Transportation Minister Israel Katz arrived at the Tel Aviv Municipality's headquarters as work began - and joked: ""
