The struggle for David's Tomb: Hundreds participated today (Monday) in a protest rally held at the Tomb of the Holy Sepulcher on Mount Zion, against the intention to transfer the hall that Christians call the 'Last Supper' to Vatican control.

The assembly was headed by Rabbi Simcha Kook, rabbi of Rehovot, and was attended by rabbis and public figures, including members of the Jerusalem City Council, Deputy Mayors Yossi Deitch and Chaim Epstein, and council members Yitzhak Pindarus, Nachmaniel Saban, Michael Malchieli, Yaakov Halperin and Aryeh King.

The rally opened with a recitation of Psalms by the Rabbi of the Jewish Quarter, Rabbi Eliyahu Medina. After him, the eminent Rabbi Simcha HaCohen Kook, one of the leaders of the struggle, spoke about the seriousness of the matter of handing over the Hall of the Last Supper to the Christian Church.

Rav Kook said that when Rabbi Kanievsky was asked about this, he replied with one word: "Disgrace." Rav Kook also said that if the room of the Last Supper becomes a place of regular prayer, then according to Halacha it will be forbidden to pray under it as well, which would prohibit praying at David's tomb itself.

The rabbi also quoted the words of the great men of the generations who stated that this is indeed the place where King David, may God bless him and grant him peace, is buried, and not as they disputed.

Afterwards, a mincha prayer was held at the site, with the Kabbalist Rabbi David Batzri passing in front of the Ark, and at the end, the Kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Ades spoke. The rally closed with the reading of the rally's statement, according to which the intention to hand over parts of the Tomb of David complex to the Christians must be fought in every way.
