A six-month-old baby girl lost consciousness after choking in her home on Rabbi Mfonivez Street in Modiin Illit from a bag she put in her mouth. A doctor and paramedics volunteering with the United Hatzalah organization stabilized her condition and she was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Yitzhak Neugerschel, a United Hatzalah medic who arrived at the parents' house, said: "The parents called the United Hatzalah hotline and I was nearby. I arrived at the scene within about a minute and a half. She was unconscious and not breathing. After performing CPR, with the assistance of a United Hatzalah doctor, we stabilized her condition. She was then evacuated in an MDA intensive care unit to continue receiving medical treatment at the hospital, in stable condition and unconscious.".
The United Hatzalah organization reiterates its call on parents and adults to prevent and keep away from children and toddlers toys or plastic bags that could cause injuries or suffocation.
