""Hello, I'm inside the plane's cargo hold and I feel it moving in the air," a cargo worker was heard saying in a phone call to a police dispatcher in the US.
The confused operator tried to understand where the man was speaking from, and he replied that he was on a plane, on Flight 448 from Seattle to Los Angeles.
""Please stop the plane," the man pleaded.
At one point, the man tried to knock on the roof of the trunk, and the noises were heard by the pilots and passengers.
14 minutes after takeoff, the plane landed back, and the man was rescued safely.
After disembarking, he said he took a short nap in the dark cargo hold, and didn't notice that the plane had begun its journey.
The airline did not release the employee's name, but said he had been with the company for 18 months.
""The man violated company regulations when he went into the trunk to take a nap. He is lucky he fell asleep in the part where the pressure and temperature are controlled. In another part of the trunk he could have died," they said.
