Haredi man tortured divorcee for $100,000; faces life in prison

The case of the forced divorce: David Vox, a 51-year-old resident of Lakewood, pleaded guilty in a New Jersey court to conspiracy to commit kidnapping. According to his confession, he took part in the kidnapping and abuse of the divorce refuser, Israel Brixman, in exchange for 100,000$ paid by the woman's family. According to his confession, the defendant and his friend lured Brixman out of the house and to Vox's house, claiming to help him get married. When he arrived at the house, the two tied him up with ropes, blindfolded him, and beat him all over his body until he agreed to grant the divorce. The woman's family paid 50,000$ to each of the two kidnappers. The sentence, which will be handed down on the 23rd of Av this year, could result in life imprisonment and a fine of 250,000$.
