The case of the forced divorce: David Vox, a 51-year-old Lakewood resident, pleaded guilty in a New Jersey court to conspiracy to commit kidnapping. According to his confession, he took part in the kidnapping and abuse of divorce refuser Israel Bricksman in exchange for $100,000$ paid by the woman's family.

According to his confession, the defendant and his friend lured Briksman out of the house and to Vox's house, claiming to help him get married. When he arrived at the house, the two tied him up with ropes, blindfolded him, and beat him all over his body until he agreed to grant the divorce.
