The Palm Springs, California, police report of a burglary was decidedly unusual: A woman reached under her bed to find her cats, and discovered... a burglar there.

According to the report, one of the neighbors recognized a stranger knocking on the doors of the houses and called the police hotline to report it.

Meanwhile, the man managed to enter one of the residences, where a woman lived with her two cats.

At one point, the woman was looking for her cats under the bed, and when she reached out to touch the velvety fur, she was horrified to feel human skin.

It turns out that the burglar was lying under her bed, and when he realized he had been spotted, he quickly fled. The woman reported a missing gold bracelet and a missing digital camera to the police who arrived at the scene.

Not long after, police located the burglar, 25-year-old Christian Attuck, who was hiding in one of the city's canals. He was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and resisting a police officer.
