The Chevra Kadisha of Kolel and Ehlin refused to bury Mrs. Hanna Rivka Ehrlich, may God have mercy on her, next to her composer husband, Rabbi Yom Tov Ehrlich, until the family members pay 100,000 shekels. • The parties conducted stubborn negotiations, while insulting and disrobing the deceased's body - which was placed in a refrigerator in a 'shamgar'. • Only at noon was the money raised and the funeral took place on the Mount of Olives.

Insulting the dead: Due to a financial demand, the Havra Kadisha, including the tent, refused to bury Mrs. Hannah Rivka Ehrlich, the widow of the composer Rabbi Yom Tov Ehrlich, who passed away on Shabbat evening.

The deceased's family members requested that she be buried near her husband's grave on the Mount of Olives, but the Wahlin Kollel refused to allow the burial until the family members paid no less than 100,000 NIS. Starting on the Sabbath, the family members and the Kollel management were in stubborn negotiations, while demeaning and concealing the deceased's body - which was placed in a refrigerator at the Shamgar funeral home. Only this afternoon, after the family members managed to raise the required amount in cash - did the funeral take place.

According to our investigation, the Chabra Kadisha of the Dekael Hasidim, which was supposed to handle the burial, has no connection to the affair. They said that the Wahlin Kollel, which owns the plot of land on the Mount of Olives where the late Rabbi Yom Tov is buried, is responsible for the financial demand, so that they can allow the deceased to be buried next to her husband.

According to a source familiar with the details, the family members managed to arrange the large sum in cash, in order to prevent the continued grave humiliation, and as mentioned, around 4:30 PM, a funeral finally took place.

Rabbi Yom Tov and Hannah Ehrlich were married in the United States after the Holocaust, where they had five children. In 1987, they immigrated to the Holy Land and lived in Jerusalem. In 1999, Rabbi Yom Tov died of a heart attack and was buried on the Mount of Olives.

We were unable to receive Kollel Wahlin's response despite many attempts. It will be published when received.
