Early elections? We will declare a voting rebellion.

It doesn't matter who is more to blame for the current crisis and what is the root of the bickering and childish exchange of accusations between politicians and parties. Everyone is to blame. Everyone is spitting in our, the citizens', faces.

It is already clear, even before a single hand has inserted a new ballot into the ballot box, that nothing will change after the new elections. It is likely that some parties will shrink and others will slightly increase the number of seats they hold.

Perhaps a government with a slightly different composition will even be formed.

But the political reality will not change just because the politicians want us to vote again. After all, the parties in the Knesset more or less represent the distribution of political positions of Israeli citizens, and the post-election truce will be a new game with the same cards.

It doesn't matter who is more to blame for the current crisis and what is the root of the bickering and childish exchange of accusations between politicians and parties. Everyone is to blame. Everyone is spitting in our faces, the citizens, and making a mockery of the culture of governance.

We elect our representatives on the assumption that they are responsible people, think about the good of the country, represent their constituents and respect them. But the government crisis contradicts this assumption, and not for the first time.

So, true, there is a civic and conscientious duty to vote (the reasonable period of time set by the legislature is every four years). But let's assume that a new government is formed that falls apart after a year, after a month. Even then, will we go vote again and again? The practice of bringing the elections forward is becoming more and more entrenched, and the reasons for the collapse are absurd.

This is a blatant violation of an agreement with the electorate. We are not tools in the hands of politicians and it is our duty to protest.

Therefore, I propose a practical protest proposal. If elections are decided, we will declare a voting rebellion. We will courageously refrain from going to the polls. We will dramatically lower the voter turnout (no prime minister will form a coalition of minorities). This way, we will force politicians to stop this farce once and for all, and most importantly, change the system that is degrading the State of Israel and ruining our lives.
