Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox zealots are blocking traffic routes on Herzog and Nahar Jordan streets in the city of Beit Shemesh this evening (Tuesday), thereby disrupting public order in the city.

A police officer declared an illegal disturbance and ordered the rioters to evacuate the intersection, warning that if they did not comply, force would be used.

Police forces and YSM fighters are working at the scene to restore order and open the travel routes to the public.

Today, the detention of three city residents, who were arrested last night on suspicion of participating in a break-in at the police station about a week ago following the arrest of a defector from Betar Illit, was extended. Two of the detainees confirmed that they participated in the protest, but did not participate in the break-in at the station. The third detainee claims that he was at home at the time of the incident.
